Our Instructional Program
Our instructional program offers on-campus courses for students in grades Pre K through 12, with an opportunity to participate in dual enrollment online courses for students in grades 9-12. Courses include Mathematics, Science, History/Social Studies, Language Arts, Physical Education, Music, Art, Foreign Language, IT, and Bible. Additional class time is used for the library. Language courses are available online for students who choose to learn languages other than what is offered on campus.
We offer an ESL program for students whose first language is not English and an assisted learning program for students whose assessment scores put them 10% or greater below the grade level benchmark for English. The curriculum used by LAS is AERO (American Education Reaches Out), with Bible curriculum from ACSI/Purposeful Design embedded. Grades 9-12 utilize an IB system implemented on top of our existing AERO curriculum, as we are a candidate school.
Their subject groups include Studies in Language & Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals & Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts. Additional core courses/elements for the IB program are Theory of Knowledge, CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), and the extended essay.
Each of the subject groups offered are further broken into course sections such as Language A: Literature, Language A: Language and Literature, Literature and Performance, Modern Languages: Language AB Initio and Language B, Classical Languages: Latin or Classical Greek, Business Management, Economics, Geography, Global Politics, History, Information Technology in a Global Society, Philosophy, Psychology, Social and Cultural Anthropology, World Religions, Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Design Technology, Physics, Sports/Exercise/Health Science, Mathematical Studies Standard Level, Mathematics SL, Mathematics Higher Level, Further Mathematics Higher Level, Dance, Music, Film, Theatre, and Visual Arts.
This program reinforces the mission of LAS to generate life-long learners who are able to impact their world on an international level, as well as fine tuning their high school education experience to their divine calling and purpose by putting them in courses that will be useful to them both in the present and future.
