- The Purpose of Our COVID Protocol
Additional Information

  • To encourage a uniform approach to preventing COVID-19 from entering and/or spreading on campus.

  • To keep both school children and staff of LAS in a safe environment.

  • This protocol incorporates both national and international guidelines for COVID-19 and is subject to review as the COVID- 19 situation changes.

What is  Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that are common among animals. In rare cases, they are what scientists call zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from animals to humans, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

  • Boarding Facilities
    All boarding students and the boarding parent should be tested for COVID-19 about 2 weeks before school re-opens and submit the results to the school on arrival at the boarding house. • Periodic general disinfection and fumigation of the boarding house will be done routinely. • Daily disinfection of all rooms and surfaces including door handles • Daily disinfection of the school bus transporting students to and from the boarding house • Regular temperature checks at the main entrance for all persons entering the boarding facilities • Veronica buckets will be provided at the entrance for hand washing before entering the premises • Provision will be made for the isolation of any sick person in the boarding house. •Shoe rack will be provided for students to change their shoes when they return from campus before entering their rooms • Students are encouraged to have a bath or shower on returning from campus. • Physical distancing of about 2 meters will be maintained between each student in the boarding house. • The wearing of face mask by students will be encouraged. Students should not sleep in their face masks to avoid breathing problems. • Cross ventilation will be encouraged. Air conditioners will be used when necessary. *Visitors to the boarding house will be restricted during these times*
  • Cafeteria
    • Snacks and lunch would be served in various classrooms. • Only few staff and students who for one reason or the other will have to use the cafeteria should do so maintaining physical distancing of about 2 meters between each person.
  • Classrooms

Spacing or physical distancing of about 2 meters between students with all students facing one direction in the classroom. Sharing of electronic devices should be discouraged. Regular hand washing by students when changing classrooms for different subjects. Sanitizers will be available in all classrooms and sanitizer dispensers on all floors. All staff/students should be encouraged to keep disposable tissues on them always. All door handles will be disinfected frequently. Cross ventilation is encouraged. Teachers should use their discretion as to when to use air conditioners. No visitors are allowed to any classroom. Any student or staff who gets sick suddenly in school should report to the sick bay. All field trips for students will be suspended for now MORNING DEVOTION Restructure morning devotions to adhere to physical distancing protocols • Use of pre-recorded songs instead of the staff/students singing. • Suspend joint service between staff, students and parents

There will be no sharing of beddings. WASHROOMS/POTTIES Changing mats will be properly disinfected after each use. Wash rooms will be cleaned after every use. Children’s potties will be thoroughly cleaned. There will be no sharing of potties.

THE NURSE • The school nurse will be in a face mask, face shield and a protective gown when working in the sick bay. • Should any class need help with proper hand washing, please contact the school nurse. • The school nurse will ensure that good hygiene practices are maintained in the school. GENERAL HEALTH • Any staff/student who gets sick suddenly in school should report to the sick bay • A temporary isolation room for suspected cases of COVID-19 would be made available close to the sick bay • Any sick person should not come to school. SICK BAY
  • Boarding Facilities
    All boarding students and the boarding parent should be tested for COVID-19 about 2 weeks before school re-opens and submit the results to the school on arrival at the boarding house. • Periodic general disinfection and fumigation of the boarding house will be done routinely. • Daily disinfection of all rooms and surfaces including door handles • Daily disinfection of the school bus transporting students to and from the boarding house • Regular temperature checks at the main entrance for all persons entering the boarding facilities • Veronica buckets will be provided at the entrance for hand washing before entering the premises • Provision will be made for the isolation of any sick person in the boarding house. •Shoe rack will be provided for students to change their shoes when they return from campus before entering their rooms • Students are encouraged to have a bath or shower on returning from campus. • Physical distancing of about 2 meters will be maintained between each student in the boarding house. • The wearing of face mask by students will be encouraged. Students should not sleep in their face masks to avoid breathing problems. • Cross ventilation will be encouraged. Air conditioners will be used when necessary. *Visitors to the boarding house will be restricted during these times*
  • Cafeteria
    • Snacks and lunch would be served in various classrooms. • Only few staff and students who for one reason or the other will have to use the cafeteria should do so maintaining physical distancing of about 2 meters between each person.
  • Classrooms
    All students should be in face masks (use of face shield in addition to face mask is optional). Spacing or physical distancing of about 2 meters between students with all students facing one direction in the classroom. Sharing of electronic devices should be discouraged. Regular hand washing by students when changing classrooms for different subjects. Sanitizers will be available in all classrooms and sanitizer dispensers on all floors. All staff/students should be encouraged to keep disposable tissues on them always. All door handles will be disinfected frequently. Cross ventilation is encouraged. Teachers should use their discretion as to when to use air conditioners. No visitors are allowed to any classroom. Any student or staff who gets sick suddenly in school should report to the sick bay. All field trips for students will be suspended for now MORNING DEVOTION Restructure morning devotions to adhere to physical distancing protocols • Use of pre-recorded songs instead of the staff/students singing. • Suspend joint service between staff, students and parents

PLAY TIME/NAP TIME The use of toys will be suspended Due to breathing problems, children should not be allowed to sleep in face mask. Beddings will be washed as often as needed. There will be no sharing of beddings. WASHROOMS/POTTIES Changing mats will be properly disinfected after each use. Wash rooms will be cleaned after every use. Children’s potties will be thoroughly cleaned. There will be no sharing of potties.

What is  Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that are common among animals. In rare cases, they are what scientists call zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from animals to humans, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
